The Shiva Vishnu Temple has announced a special Vastra Samarpana program, offering devotees the opportunity to sponsor traditional Kanchivaram Pure Silk Sarees, Dhoties, and Melchat vastrams (specifically adorned on Lord Balaji) to be offered to the temple deities during Abhishekams, Kalyanotsavams, and various special events. Because availability is limited, organizers encourage devotees to sponsor as early as possible.
Selection Process and Return of Vastrams:
Devotees can personally select the desired vastrams whether Kanchivaram Pure Silk Sarees, Dhoties, or Melchat vastrams directly at the temple’s front office and specify their preferred date for adorning the deity. Once the priests change the alankaram at the conclusion of the specified Abhishekam, Kalyanotsavam, or special event day, or on any mutually convenient date, the vastrams will be returned to the devotee.
Vastra Categories, Suggested Donations, and Deities
The temple has outlined specific donation tiers and schedules for different vastrams:
Kanchivaram Pure Silk Sarees ($275 Suggested Donation): Offered to Goddess Andal, Goddess Maha Lakshmi, Goddess Parvati, and Goddess Dasabhuja Durga during Friday Abhishekams; Goddess Kanaka Durga during Sunday Abhishekams; and Goddess Saraswati during the monthly Moola Nakshatra Abhishekam.
Silk Dhoties ($221 Suggested Donation): Offered during Lord Shiva’s Abhishekam on the fourth Saturday of the month, as well as for Lord Ganesha and Lord Karthikeya Abhishekams on Sundays.
Melchat Vastram ($701 Suggested Donation): Specifically adorned during Lord Balaji’s Abhishekam on the first Saturday of the month.
