Actor Yash has finally addressed Rashmika Mandanna’s long-standing “Mr Showoff” comment during his recent appearance on Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adalat, years after the remark initially sparked controversy among Kannada cinema fans. Rashmika, who started her career in the Kannada film industry before achieving pan-India stardom, had made the comment during a 2017 interview, which drew severe backlash from Yash’s supporters and later prompted an apology and clarification from the actress.
Reflecting on the old controversy, Yash stated that he was unaware of the exact context behind Rashmika’s remark and noted that she was still relatively new to the entertainment industry at the time. He explained that such comments frequently stem from television interview formats where celebrities are pressured to pick options rapidly, adding that he was never offended by it. Asserting that external opinions hold no power over his true character, Yash remarked, “Anybody can give an opinion about you. But somebody’s opinion will not be my personality. Who I am does not change because of someone else’s point of view.” He also delivered a firm message to his fan base, declaring that anyone who fails to respect fellow actors cannot truly be considered his fan.
On the professional front, Yash is currently preparing for the release of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas. The action thriller features an ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria, and has been awarded an ‘A’ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification with a reported runtime of 194 minutes. Set against the backdrop of post-Independence Goa, the narrative follows a gangster navigating loyalty, morality, violence, and redemption. Addressing recent criticism directed at the film’s intimate scenes between him and Kiara Advani, Yash maintained that vulgarity is wrong and that such sequences must be handled aesthetically, noting that the project is tailored for Gen Z audiences. In addition to Toxic, Yash is set to star as Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic Ramayana, a portrayal that has already generated substantial anticipation.
