SiliconAndhra ManaBadi has officially entered its 20th academic year, marking two decades of dedication to promoting Telugu language education and cultural heritage among children across North America. Originating two decades ago with just 150 students, the initiative has since grown into a major Telugu language learning program operating outside India. Over the years, it has successfully helped generations of children learn to speak, read, and write Telugu while maintaining a deep connection with their cultural roots. A notable reflection of this enduring journey is that some students from the program’s early batches have now grown up to become parents, currently enrolling their own children into ManaBadi.
Vibrant Kickoff Across North America:
The opening weekend of the new academic year witnessed remarkable participation, welcoming approximately 12,200 students across ManaBadi centers located in nearly 250 cities throughout the United States and Canada. Around 20,000 parents and family members participated in the opening weekend events. This massive rollout was made possible through the dedicated efforts of roughly 2,500 volunteers, teachers, centre coordinators, and community members who collaborated to guarantee a smooth and memorable beginning for the students and families.
Expanding the Movement for Future Generations:
The organization attributes its continuous growth to the sustained efforts of teachers, coordinators, parents, organizers, and volunteers who contribute their time to support Telugu education. As it enters its third decade, ManaBadi remains committed to strengthening children’s connection with their cultural roots and keeping Telugu a living language within families and communities. Admissions for the current academic year will continue until the end of September. Chamarti Raju, President and Dean of SiliconAndhra ManaBadi, has appealed to the Telugu diaspora in North America to support the initiative by sharing their positive experiences, encouraging friends to bring their children, and connecting new families to help the community grow.
