US federal prosecutors brought criminal charges against 379 individuals for immigration-related offences during a week-long enforcement operation across Arizona conducted from September 19 through September 25. According to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona, the crackdown targeted various border violations, including unlawful entries, illegal re-entries following prior removals, and human smuggling networks operating in the region. Federal authorities filed 155 cases against individuals accused of illegal re-entry, while another 191 people face charges for unauthorized entry into the country. Furthermore, prosecutors filed 28 distinct cases against 32 individuals linked to smuggling undocumented migrants into and across Arizona.

The sweeping operations also highlighted targeted arrests involving transport and safety violations. Prosecutors charged one defendant with assaulting a US Border Patrol agent, emphasizing that safeguarding law enforcement personnel remains critical to border security. Notable individual cases include US citizens Gilda Sabas Martinez and Percy Anthony Kisto, both of whom were charged with transporting unlawful migrants. Kisto, stopped near a checkpoint on State Route 85, was additionally charged as a felon in possession of a firearm due to a prior 2015 conviction. Another defendant, Ivan Rojas-Menera, was charged with illegal re-entry following a previous 2019 removal tied to a drug-trafficking conspiracy conviction.
