The creators of Ramayana: Part One released the official trailer on Wednesday, providing viewers with an extended preview of what is anticipated to be one of the most ambitious film adaptations of India’s ancient epic. Issued in five regional Indian languages Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam the trailer precedes the movie’s worldwide theatrical debut slated for Diwali 2026. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra via Prime Focus Studios alongside Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the two-part cinematic project will receive global distribution through Sony Pictures, while Dharma Productions manages distribution across North India.
Star-Studded Cast and Narrative Arc:
The film features a prominent ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Kannada superstar Yash as Ravana, with Yash additionally contributing as a co-producer through Monster Mind Creations. Supporting roles feature Arun Govil as King Dasharath, Shobana as Kaikesi, Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra, and Ajinkya Deo as Sage Vishwamitra. The narrative of Ramayana: Part One centers on the journey of Prince Rama the earthly incarnation of Lord Vishnu whose exile leads toward a decisive conflict with Ravana, the powerful king of Lanka. This central struggle highlights timeless themes of duty, sacrifice, righteousness, and the ultimate triumph of good over evil.

Producer Namit Malhotra emphasized that the film aims to present a revered cultural heritage to an international viewership. Noting that the epic is deeply intertwined with daily life and generational values across India, Malhotra expressed pride in sharing the narrative globally. Director Nitesh Tiwari added that the entire production team approached the adaptation with total honesty, authenticity, and reverence. He noted that every creative choice spanning the script, performances, production design, music, and visual effects was crafted to treat the legacy with maximum dignity and respect.
International Creative Collaborations and Visual Scale:
To achieve an unprecedented cinematic scale, the production enlisted a diverse international creative team. The screenplay is written by Shridhar Raghavan, production design is managed by Ravi Bansal and Ramsey Avery, and action sequences are directed by Hollywood stunt coordinators Terry Notary and Guy Norris. Additionally, the film features an original score jointly composed by Academy Award winners Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, alongside visual effects delivered by the eight-time Oscar-winning studio DNEG.
