The next shooting schedule for the highly anticipated sci-fi sequel, Kalki 2, has reportedly faced another delay. The primary reason behind this postponement is the unavailability of lead actor Prabhas, who has a tightly packed slate of upcoming projects.
Current Filming Progress:
Directed by visionary filmmaker Nag Ashwin, the production of the sequel is already well underway. The team has reportedly wrapped up key portions featuring legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Both veterans are reprising their powerful roles as Ashwatthama and Supreme Yaskin, respectively, carrying their characters forward from the blockbuster hit Kalki 2898 AD. Following the massive success of the first installment, the sequel is being mounted on an even grander scale.
The Scheduling Conflict:
In a recent interview, Nag Ashwin revealed that the production team was preparing to resume the next phase of filming in September, which would involve Prabhas joining the sets. However, those plans have now been altered. Prabhas is currently managing a busy lineup of high-profile films, notably Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and the upcoming movie Fauji.
Starting this September, Prabhas is expected to dedicate the majority of his dates to Fauji. With Fauji locked in for a major theatrical release on December 3, 2026, the actor’s immediate priority will be completing that project.
What’s Next for Kalki 2?
Because of this significant time commitment to Fauji, the Kalki 2 team has had to hit pause on their upcoming schedule. The film’s makers are now actively working to navigate Prabhas’s busy itinerary to lock in new, finalized shooting dates for his portions of the sci-fi epic.
