Actor Rukmini Vasanth, who went all out to promote Yash’s film Toxic by participating in major promotional events across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad, is now facing heavy trolling and criticism following the movie’s release. During the promotional campaign, she had spoken enthusiastically about her positive working experience and expressed hope for a strong response to her character. Instead, audiences and fans have heavily criticized her choice of role, arguing that the project has fallen short of expectations following her earlier success and anticipation surrounding her pan-Indian career choices.
Character Limitations and Fan Backlash:
The core of the criticism centers on her character’s extremely limited screen time and lack of substance. Rukmini’s character enters only in the second half of the film, shares just a couple of scenes with Yash, and quickly transitions into playing the mother of a young boy, after which the narrative largely abandons focus on her. Furthermore, a brief romantic sequence with Yash within this constrained window has also drawn disapproval from segments of the fan base. Many viewers feel she should have exercised greater discernment in selecting scripts rather than taking on a poorly written part that offers minimal scope for her performance.

Following high expectations that she would follow up her momentum with another major pan-Indian success particularly in the wake of Kantara: Chapter 1 fans are now advising her to be much more selective with future projects and to prioritize substantive, role-driven narratives.
