Nearly 300 people took part in the Viksit Bharat Run 2026 at Don Knabe Community Regional Park, organized by the Consulate General of India, Los Angeles, in association with the United Indian Associations of Southern California. The event drew children, youth, adults, and senior citizens from across the Southern California Indian American community. Consul General Dr. K. J. Srinivasa inaugurated the run and joined participants, interacting with community members throughout the event.
Vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 and Bilateral Ties:
Addressing the gathering, Srinivasa highlighted the Government of India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Samarth Bharat, stating that India’s development also depends on the participation and contributions of Indians and people of Indian origin around the world. He urged young Indian Americans to stay connected with India and use their education, talent, and ideas to contribute as innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Srinivasa also spoke about the growing ties between India and Southern California, including the sister-city partnership between Mumbai and Los Angeles, noting that the relationship could provide opportunities for greater people-to-people, cultural, educational, and economic engagement.
Community Partners and Awards:
Participating community organizations included IALA, GOPIO, Santan Bengali Society, Los Angeles Hindu Temple, SMAP, Maharashtra Mandal LA, AIKOOTAN, NFIA, Step2Step, IASA, and OBJP. Awards were presented to participants in the Under-16, Adult, and Senior categories, while community leaders were also recognized for their contributions to the Indian American diaspora. The event concluded with continued interaction between the Consul General, participants, and representatives of participating community organizations.
