SAN FRANCISCO — The Consulate General of India in San Francisco recently concluded its latest recruitment drive aimed at bolstering its administrative, marketing, and IT operations. The application window for four full-time positions officially closed on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The Consulate sought to fill roles exclusively open to U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents (Green Card holders). Shortlisted candidates will now be invited for an interview phase as the Consulate moves forward with the selection process.
Focus on Service Expansion and Bilateral Initiatives
The recent job openings highlight the Consulate’s ongoing efforts to enhance its day-to-day operations and support bilateral relations:
Consular Services: The Consulate is bringing on two Junior Consular Assistants to help streamline the issuance and processing of critical documents, including passports, visas, and OCI-related services. The role, offering an initial monthly pay of US$ 4,588, also involves supporting protocol duties for visiting delegations.
U.S.-India Trade & Technology: Highlighting a focus on economic diplomacy, the Consulate recruited for a Marketing Assistant (initial monthly pay: US$ 5,171). A key responsibility for this role includes supporting outreach for the U.S.-India TRUST (Transforming the Relationship Utilizing Strategic Technology) initiative, specifically tracking developments in critical sectors like AI, biotechnology, semiconductors, and space.
IT Infrastructure: To secure and modernize its digital operations, the Consulate also sought an IT and Systems Administrator (initial monthly pay: US$ 4,588). This role is tasked with managing cybersecurity protocols, maintaining the internal network, and setting up audio-visual equipment for official functions.
The selected candidates will receive health insurance coverage and paid leave in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
