Three high school students in San Ramon, California, have each been awarded $5,000 for their original community event concepts in Discover San Ramon’s second annual Event Innovator Competition. The winners—Neil Korambeth from California High School alongside Aditi Ranjan and Chloe Fisher from Dougherty Valley High School—were honored by Mayor Mark Armstrong and the San Ramon City Council during a special presentation on September 8.

San Ramon Sky-Track Grand Prix: Neil Korambeth developed this sports concept to create a unique event that showcases the city using its architecture as a setting.
San Ramon RoboFest: Aditi Ranjan proposed this technology-focused event to combine her interests in STEM and entrepreneurship while creating a community experience.
San Ramon Cherry Blossom Festival: Chloe Fisher created her cultural festival idea after noticing dangerous parking along Bollinger Canyon Road by people taking pictures of blooming trees, turning a safety issue into a creative community event.
Competition Overview and Future Plans
Participation in the competition tripled in its second year, inviting local students in grades 9 through 11 to pitch fresh event ideas spanning sports, technology, and culture. A total of $15,000 was awarded, with each of the three selected students receiving $5,000. The Event Innovator Competition is set to return in 2027, with the next application period to be announced.
