Sunnyvale Mayor Larry Klein recently marked a major milestone, celebrating ten years since he was first sworn in as a Councilmember to the Sunnyvale City Council. Having spent more than seven and a half of those years serving as the city’s Mayor, Klein expressed amazement at how quickly the past decade has flown by. Reflecting on his tenure, he expressed deep pride in the ongoing collaboration with the community, emphasizing efforts to listen to resident needs, solve real issues, and make Sunnyvale a better place for everyone. Connecting with the community remains the single greatest gift of his role, having guided the city toward positive changes such as increased housing, enhanced transportation, and improved services.
Gratitude for Family and Support Systems:
Mayor Klein extended heartfelt thanks to his wife, Sheri, for her constant support throughout his political journey and beyond. Standing by his side during his swearing-in ceremony on a September evening a decade ago, her unwavering backing has remained steadfast through late-night meetings, endless phone calls, and weekend reading marathons, making his achievements possible. Furthermore, Klein shared a guiding life lesson taught by his mother: “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice”. As he looks back on ten years in office, he hopes to have embodied an approachable, kind leader always ready to work hard for Sunnyvale.
