The Hindu Community and Cultural Center (HCCC) Shiva-Vishnu Temple has introduced its ongoing Youth Seva & Volunteer Program, anchored by the core values of Serve, Learn, Lead, and Inspire. Designed specifically for high school students aged 14 to 18, this year-round initiative provides teenagers with meaningful avenues to serve the temple and the wider community. Operating on the HCCC campus in Livermore, California, the program aims to help young participants build character, develop essential leadership and teamwork skills, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for selfless service while earning valuable volunteer hours.
Program Structure and Flexible Participation:
The initiative is structured to accommodate the busy schedules of students, allowing them to engage as frequently as their time permits—whether that means volunteering once a month or participating across multiple seasonal events.
Eligibility: Open to enthusiastic high school students between 14 and 18 years of age. No prior experience is required, though a positive attitude and a willingness to assist are essential.
Engagement Process: Once registered via the official sign-up link, participants are added to the dedicated HCCC Youth Volunteer WhatsApp Group. Volunteer tasks and schedules are posted regularly throughout the year, enabling students to select opportunities that directly align with their personal interests, skills, and availability.
Diverse Volunteer Roles and Activities:
Participants can choose from a wide spectrum of assignments across different operational and cultural domains of the temple. Available volunteer opportunities include:
Assisting at Temple Festivals and major religious events
Supporting Youth & Education Programs and children’s activities
Engaging in Arts & Crafts programs and Library & Learning Center operations
Contributing to Technology and AI projects, as well as Event Planning and logistics
Participating in Campus Beautification and environmental Seva initiatives
Providing Administrative Support and executing special projects tailored to individual student interests and organizational needs
Benefits of Participation:
By engaging in these service opportunities, youth gain far more than just service hours. The program helps students build confidence, foster a strong sense of personal responsibility, form meaningful connections with peers and mentors, and experience the deep personal fulfillment derived from Seva. The temple encourages all eligible students to seize this unique opportunity to grow, learn, and contribute positively to their community.
