State leadership has officially appointed Rohit Chopra, secretary of the Business and Consumer Services Agency, to the Governor’s Military Council. Chopra brings an extensive background in public service, having served in various high-profile administrative capacities, as a fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, and as director of a major federal financial protection bureau.
His prior career public resume also includes serving as a commissioner on a federal trade commission, a special adviser at the U.S. Department of Education, an assistant director and student loan ombudsman, and an associate at a prominent global management consulting firm. Chopra holds a Master of Business Administration degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Harvard University. This strategic appointment does not require legislative confirmation and carries no financial compensation.

Alongside the primary appointment, the administration announced several key administrative roles across state committees and departments. Patrick Brown was named Chief Deputy Director at the Housing Development and Finance Committee, Kevin Hixon stepped into the role of Deputy Director for Facility Support within the Division of Adult Institutions, and Andrea Rosales joined the Commission on Correctional Peace Officer Standards and Training.
