The Consulate General of India in San Francisco commemorated India’s Independence Day on August 15 at the historic Gadar Memorial Hall. Led by Consul General K. Srikar Reddy, the ceremony brought together Bay Area residents, diaspora leaders, and families to honor the historical significance of the Gadar Party founded in 1913 by early 20th-century expatriates to overthrow British colonial rule and celebrate India’s modern advancements.

Highlighting the deep-rooted ties between India and the United States, Consul General Reddy remarked that the history of India’s independence was forged in part right in San Francisco. During the program, Reddy read excerpts from President Droupadi Murmu’s annual Independence Day address, paying homage to freedom fighters and emphasizing the empowerment of citizens. The celebration also featured the unfurling of the Indian tricolor alongside vibrant cultural and patriotic performances delivered by local youth and artists.

24/7 Helpline: A dedicated round-the-clock emergency helpline is operational to assist Indian citizens facing critical situations in the region.
