One of the early posts featured Trump’s face superimposed on a map of Iran. Additional graphics focused on economic strain, including a chart declaring “IRAN HAS HYPERINFLATION” that illustrated the rial weakening from roughly 900,000 per U.S. dollar in early 2025 to over 2.27 million rials per dollar, while another asserted that “Iran’s Currency is DESTROYED.”
Trump also shared figures indicating that Iranian crude exports plummeted from approximately 2 million barrels per day in 2025 to near-zero levels in 2026 before a partial recovery, alongside a graphic claiming oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz recovered to 18 million barrels per day compared to 20 million barrels pre-conflict. Escalating the military messaging, Trump shared an AI-generated image titled “Bye bye, Kharg” depicting a fighter jet approaching a burning oil facility, referencing Iran’s primary crude-export hub following a previous video he posted on August 31 showing Kharg being “blown to smithereens.” His final Iran-centric graphic stated, “Iran is a Failing Nation!”
Tehran’s Response to U.S. Pressure:
Iranian officials have acknowledged internal economic hurdles such as inflation, currency instability, and unemployment while pushing back against Washington’s leverage. Iranian Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh stated that the U.S. cannot dictate the choices of the Iranian people through financial pressure, emphasizing that economic reform is the responsibility of Iran’s government and citizens rather than the U.S. Treasury. Additionally, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned that any further aggression against Iranian interests would draw a “faster, heavier and more painful” response.
Moon Sovereignty Claim and Renaming Proposals:
Alongside the posts targeting Iran, Trump shared an image of the Moon alongside a U.S. flag with the caption “The Moon is Ours,” despite the 1967 Outer Space Treaty ratified by the U.S. and over 100 other nations strictly prohibiting national sovereignty claims over celestial bodies.
Trump additionally proposed renaming the Strait of Hormuz to “Trump Strait” and suggested changing New Mexico’s name to “NEW AMERICA,” claiming it would be more prestigious.
