The Livermore-Pleasanton-Dublin branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has announced a fundraising event scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, at the Darcie Kent Winery in Livermore, with all proceeds dedicated to funding eighth-grade girls to attend STEM summer camps next year.
Tech Trek Camp Impact and Curriculum:
This year, the local AAUW chapter successfully sponsored 10 middle school students who participated in week-long Tech Trek residential camps across three California university campuses: Santa Clara University, Sonoma State University, and the University of California, Santa Cruz. Guided by teacher recommendations and a rigorous AAUW interview process, the campers engaged in specialized scientific and technical coursework spanning astronomy, chemistry, aerospace engineering, forensics, and structural and electrical engineering. The branch has a long-standing history of supporting the program, having sponsored campers annually since 1998.
Fundraiser Details:
Open to the public from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the upcoming winery event will feature food and wine available for purchase alongside two concurrent silent auctions designed to maximize community contributions toward next summer’s sponsorships.
