The English version of the movie Toxic entered Indian theatres on September 4, but met with a profoundly weak response that further deepens the film’s commercial hurdles. Having originally premiered across Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam formats on August 26, the English variant faced heavy competition from titles like Hanuman Ansh and Mirzapur The Movie. Consequently, it secured a severely restricted release, restricted to only 11 total screenings distributed across four cities: Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurugram, and Noida.
Early tracking reveals that the English rollout earned merely around Rs. 1.40 lakh on its opening day. While Mumbai and Bengaluru recorded slightly better theater occupancy, Gurugram and Noida managed to sell fewer than 25 tickets combined. Across the entire country, only about 450 tickets found buyers on day one. Given these discouraging figures and pre-existing box office fatigue, theater allocations are projected to shrink further through the weekend, threatening to keep the variant’s lifetime gross below Rs. 10 lakh.
Multilingual Performance and Hindi Milestone:
Concurrently, the film’s overall pan-Indian run pulled in an estimated Rs. 1.50 to 1.60 crore across all languages on September 4. The Kannada language edition contributed roughly Rs. 75 to 80 lakh, whereas the Hindi version generated about Rs. 70 to 75 lakh. This performance places the Hindi version’s extended first-week total at approximately Rs. 130.09 crore. Industry analysts are closely watching whether the Hindi iteration can successfully breach the Rs. 150 crore milestone moving forward.
