The theatrical release calendar for the upcoming Sankranti season has turned into a major talking point within Tollywood, driven by an unexpected clash between two projects associated with Megastar Chiranjeevi: Vishwambhara and Kaaka.
The Release Dilemma and Production Pace:
For nearly three years, the socio-fantasy epic Vishwambhara has faced multiple hurdles and repeated delays. Having completed its principal shooting much earlier and undergoing extensive post-production and visual effects work, the team eagerly looked toward the Sankranti window to finally bring the big-budget project to audiences.
However, complications arose when Kaaka entered the festive race. Despite having started production relatively recently with significant portions of the shoot still pending, questions have been raised in industry circles regarding the urgency to meet the festival deadline. Industry observers note that allowing Vishwambhara a film waiting much longer for a fair release slot to take the Sankranti window would be a more practical approach instead of rushing Kaaka through the remaining shoot and post-production.
Communication Friction and Backstage Confusion:
Sources indicate that Chiranjeevi himself has been keen on securing the Sankranti window for Vishwambhara. The simultaneous positioning of both projects eyeing the same festive period has created friction, amplified recently by an unauthorized promotional update. The use of a producer’s picture without consulting the Vishwambhara core team led to misinterpretations that they had agreed to step away from the holiday race, fueling further speculation about behind-the-scenes negotiations and communication gaps.
For now, the overarching question remains whether Kaaka will continue its aggressive push for Sankranti or if Vishwambhara will finally secure the long-awaited festive premiere it has been striving for, leaving the release battle far from settled.
