The Association of Indo Americans (AIA), together with supporting community teams and representatives from SEWA International – East Bay, hosted a Community Remembrance & Support gathering today to honor the victims of the devastating floods in Nepal and express solidarity with the families and communities affected by the tragedy.
The gathering brought together community members, volunteers, and supporters who came together to remember those who lost their lives and to stand with the people of Nepal during this difficult time.
As a solemn tribute to the victims and their families, attendees observed a minute of silence and offered their prayers and heartfelt condolences to everyone impacted by the disaster.
Representatives from SEWA International – East Bay shared information about the organization’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, including its fundraising campaign and support being provided on the ground to affected communities. The team highlighted the urgent needs of families impacted by the floods and the importance of community support in helping provide relief and assistance.
AIA expressed its strong support for SEWA International’s relief efforts and appealed to community members, partner organizations, and the extended AIA community to come together and contribute to the relief campaign.
“In times of tragedy, our strength comes from standing together. Today, we came together not only to remember the lives lost, but also to support the families and communities facing unimaginable hardship. We encourage everyone in our community to extend their support and help SEWA International in its relief efforts.”
The gathering reflected the Bay Area Indian-American community’s longstanding commitment to compassion, service, and giving back to communities in need, regardless of borders.
AIA and SEWA International-East Bay encourage individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations to support the ongoing relief efforts and help bring much-needed assistance to those affected by the Nepal floods.
